Is Bharat1.AI Creating the First 'Humanity-Centric AI City' in Bengaluru?
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Bengaluru, Feb 17 (NationPress) The AI infrastructure company Bharat1.AI, based in Bengaluru, revealed its ambitious plans to establish a 'Humanity-First AI City' aimed at facilitating model training, fine-tuning, and inference. This initiative will accommodate more than 10,000 AI researchers and innovators by the end of the year.
According to the company, this project is described as a city-scale research and infrastructure initiative intended to enhance foundational Agentic and Physical AI systems in realistic settings.
The B1 AI Superpark, a 500,000 sq. ft. AI research and innovation hub in Sarjapura, will collaborate with top Indian institutions such as The Airawat Research Foundation (IIT Kanpur), SPARC (Safety, Privacy & AI Research Centre, IISc), Wadhwani School of AI & Intelligent Systems (IIT Kanpur), BITS Pilani, iSPIRT Foundation, and IIT Ropar as initial foundational research partners.
The first phase of this initiative aims to develop and stress-test universal basic intelligence frameworks under controlled, real-world conditions and to construct open city-scale world models using structured, high-quality multimodal data. This will also include creating robust validation layers for agentic and physical AI systems prior to their widespread deployment.
The campus will boast connectivity of up to 400 Gbps to major AI cloud platforms with sub-millisecond latency, facilitating large-scale experimentation without data bottlenecks.
Over the next three years, this initiative will evolve into a broader AI City testbed, empowering both Indian and global organizations to test and deploy AI systems in dynamic urban environments.
“Scaling systems without validating them in complex, real-world environments is a risk we cannot afford. Bharat1.AI is our moonshot for humanity—a pledge to establish real-world foundational intelligence that is safe, verifiable, and aligned with human values,” stated Umakant Soni, Co-Founder and CEO of Bharat1.AI.
The India AI Impact Summit, a major artificial intelligence conference in the Global South, is currently underway, uniting world leaders, policymakers, and industry executives.
Concluding on February 20, this five-day summit features participation from over 100 government representatives, including more than 20 heads of state, alongside 60 Ministers and Vice Ministers, and over 500 global AI leaders such as CEOs, founders, academicians, researchers, CTOs, and philanthropic organizations.
