New Delhi, Nov 27 (NationPress) The Centre for Development of Telematics (C-DOT) has entered into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee (IITR) to create a centre of excellence (CoE) within the IITR premises, as announced on Thursday.

The main aim of this C-DOT CoE is to boost local research, innovation, and training in advanced communication technologies.

This CoE will concentrate significantly on research in fields such as wireless communication, quantum technologies, cybersecurity, and AI-driven applications.

According to the statement, "The establishment of this CoE will foster collaboration between academia and industry, utilizing the scholarly expertise of IITR and the industrial capabilities of C-DOT, thereby enabling students, researchers, and start-ups to play a vital role in India's journey toward innovation and self-reliance. This will enhance India's standing in global telecom innovation."

The centre is set to spearhead joint research and prototype creation in critical emerging fields, including 5G and 6G, RF-sub-THz integrated circuits, millimetre-wave beamforming antennas with integrated ICs, V2X Communication, data-driven wireless communication technologies, and energy efficiency.

Rajkumar Upadhyay, CEO of C-DOT, stated, "This partnership merges the prowess of India’s foremost academic institution with C-DOT’s R&D capabilities to hasten domestic telecom innovation. Together, we aim to develop technologies that lessen reliance on foreign systems and open new avenues for India to excel in advanced fields like 5G, 6G, AI, and secure communication systems."

By harnessing C-DOT’s extensive knowledge in creating homegrown telecom solutions, the CoE will function as a dedicated hub for impactful R&D, assisting start-ups, fostering intellectual property development, and facilitating ongoing knowledge transfer through workshops, training sessions, and collaborative academic-industry initiatives.

This initiative will fortify India’s position in global telecom innovation and make significant contributions to the nation's technological independence.
