Bhagalpur, Nov 27 (NationPress) Following Ahmedabad, India has secured the rights to host the 2030 Commonwealth Games. Nawal Kishore Chaudhary, the District Magistrate of Bhagalpur, described this momentous occasion as a remarkable milestone for the nation.
This decision signifies that the world's largest democracy will stage this pivotal edition of the Games after representatives from 74 Commonwealth member countries and territories endorsed India's proposal at the Commonwealth Sports General Assembly in Glasgow.
“Hosting the 2030 Commonwealth Games is a significant source of pride for India. The development of sports infrastructure in Ahmedabad showcases the country’s readiness to make a substantial global impact. Bihar is also experiencing a sporting resurgence, and this positive trend will greatly benefit our athletes,” stated Nawal Kishore Chaudhary, District Magistrate of Bhagalpur, in an interview with IANS.
India has presented a compelling vision for the 2030 Games, with Ahmedabad, Gujarat, as the primary host city. This initiative builds on the foundation set by Glasgow 2026, allowing India to celebrate its centenary in an unforgettable manner.
Nearly two decades since its last hosting, India will once again be the venue for this significant international event. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the country has developed world-class sports facilities in Ahmedabad, which is anticipated to enhance India’s reputation in sports, tourism, job creation, and the economy, while positioning Ahmedabad as a global hub for athletes.
Recently, Bihar also hosted the Khelo India Games, strengthening the state’s sporting landscape. Additionally, a sports academy and sports university have been established in Bihar.
Jai Narayan Kumar, the District Sports Officer of Bhagalpur, stressed that Bihar’s Sports Minister Shreyasi Singh, a Commonwealth Games gold medallist herself, will play a crucial role in nurturing and supporting athletes for the 2030 Games.
“India delivered an impressive performance with 101 medals in the 2010 Commonwealth Games. This time, I anticipate even more remarkable results. Bihar’s recent experience with the Khelo India Games has fostered a robust sporting culture. Being a Commonwealth Games gold medallist, Shreyasi Singh comprehends the athlete's journey. Her guidance will be vital in recognizing, nurturing, and training Bihar’s athletes for the 2030 Games.
