Srinagar, December 30 (NationPress) The Counter-Intelligence Wing Kashmir (CIK) took significant action against a digital propaganda network on Tuesday after the NIA court labeled the accused as absconders.
A statement from CIK asserted that this operation was a crucial step against anti-national propaganda and secessionist misinformation, as they have tightened their grip on a digital network spreading destabilizing content across various social media platforms.
According to the statement, "The Special Judge designated under the NIA Act in Srinagar has proclaimed under Section 82 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) against the accused individuals in FIR No. 07/2020, filed by CIK."
The case involves serious violations under Sections 153-A and 505 of the IPC, in addition to Section 13 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).
“The FIR was registered following credible intelligence inputs that suggested a coordinated conspiracy by anti-national and anti-social elements operating under the influence of secessionist forces both within and outside the Kashmir Valley,” the statement elaborated.
CIK indicated that the suspects were masquerading as journalists, freelancers, and news portals while systematically misusing social media platforms like Facebook, X, and WhatsApp.
“These platforms were allegedly leveraged to disseminate fake, exaggerated, and misleading narratives intended to incite street violence, disrupt public order, damage public property, and sow disaffection against the Union of India,” it added.
The CIK highlighted that the accused were actively spreading content harmful to the sovereignty and integrity of India, with the objective of inciting unrest and promoting a secessionist agenda.
“Following the issuance of arrest warrants, all three individuals have evaded capture and are currently absconding,” the statement confirmed.
Taking serious note of their deliberate avoidance of the law, the CIK stated that the Special NIA Court has mandated the accused to appear before it by January 31, 2026.
“The court has warned that failure to comply will result in proceedings under Section 83 CrPC, including property attachment,” it noted.
Despite being declared absconders, the accused continue their activities on social media, persisting with hostile and provocative propaganda aimed at undermining peace in Jammu and Kashmir.
“Counter Intelligence Kashmir has reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to combat anti-national propaganda, digital subversion, and the misuse of social media, warning that such actions will be met with strict legal consequences,” it concluded.
