In his address to the graduating medical students, Mandaviya highlighted the crucial role of healthcare professionals in fostering a healthy nation.
“A healthy citizenry is the cornerstone of a healthy society, and thus, a healthy nation,” he remarked.
“Doctors are the leaders of the Fit India Movement, significantly influencing wellness, preventive care, and healthy lifestyles among the populace,” he further stated.
The Union Minister also encouraged the graduates to commit to dedication, ethical conduct, and community service, urging them to pursue their careers with passion and integrity.
He reminded them that awards are merely milestones, while the real achievement lies in the lives they will impact.
“Even in instances where you don’t achieve 'victory,' the journey of learning itself becomes a triumph,” Mandaviya expressed.
He also called upon the new doctors to serve in rural and underprivileged regions, comprehend local challenges, and ensure healthcare is accessible, affordable, and ethical.
Initiated in August 2019 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Fit India Movement seeks to embed fitness into the daily routines of citizens by encouraging lifestyle changes towards a more active existence.
Reiterating the nation’s goal of achieving Viksit Bharat by 2047, Mandaviya remarked, “This vision is not solely the Prime Minister's aspiration; it is a collective responsibility of 140 crore Indians.” He emphasized the pivotal role doctors will play in this transformation. Every consultation and every life saved contributes to national productivity and advancement.
At the graduation ceremony, a total of 447 students graduated, including 100 students each from the 2016, 2017, 2018, and 2019 batches, along with the first batch of 47 postgraduate students.
