Dr. Krishna M Ella of Bharat Biotech Receives INSA India Fellowship

Hyderabad, Jan 8 (NationPress) Dr. Krishna Ella, the co-founder and Executive Chairman of Bharat Biotech International, has received the esteemed India Fellowship from the Indian National Science Academy (INSA) for the year 2025, as per the announcement by the company on Tuesday.

Dr. Ella, a renowned scientist, was recognized for his significant contributions to new knowledge, groundbreaking discoveries, and the advancement of novel vaccine technologies, as well as substantial enhancements to existing technologies, Bharat Biotech stated.

“I am truly grateful and honored to be acknowledged for my contributions to the realm of vaccines and biotechnology by INSA. I am eager to continue supporting its initiatives aimed at enhancing public health and striving to make India self-sufficient and a leading entity in the discovery of innovative vaccines as an Indian fellow,” Dr. Ella expressed in the statement.

“This honor is shared with my dedicated team at Bharat Biotech, research fellows, and other collaborators who have played a vital role in enhancing public health,” he further remarked.

During his introductory address at the 90th Anniversary General Meeting of the Indian National Science Academy held recently in Chennai, Dr. Krishna Ella emphasized the theme of “Science in Translation.”

He expressed gratitude to the Academy for the recognition and reiterated his commitment to advancing the goals and objectives aimed at propelling vaccine science and fortifying the biotech ecosystem.

In a historic first for 2025, a total of 61 fellowships were awarded. Elected INSA fellows are entitled to attend and vote at INSA general meetings and can nominate other individuals for fellowships or INSA awards.

Dr. Ella now joins a prestigious group of eminent scientists and industry figures, including Dr. Anil Kakodkar, Chairman of the Atomic Energy Commission of India, Dr. VK Saraswat, Former Director General of DRDO, Dr. S Somanath, Chairman of ISRO, S Kris Gopalakrishnan, Co-founder of Infosys, Dr. Samir V Kamat, Secretary DDR&D and Chairman of DRDO, Dr. KN Sivarajan, and other distinguished individuals from various domains.

Established in 1935, the INSA promotes scientific knowledge in India, including its practical application to national welfare challenges.

In addition to encouraging coordination among scientific academies and government scientific departments and services, it serves as a body of eminent scientists dedicated to promoting and safeguarding the interests of scientists in India.
