Key Takeaways
New Delhi, April 9 (NationPress) Former chairman of the Jaypee Group, Jaiprakash Gaur, expressed his unwavering confidence in the Adani Group's acquisition of Jaiprakash Associates Ltd (JAL) on Friday, commending the fair and transparent process carried out by the Committee of Creditors.
“The Committee of Creditors has chosen the Adani Group as the successful Resolution Applicant, and we fully respect this decision,” Gaur stated.
“I am fully assured that under Gautam Adani's leadership, the legacy of Jaiprakash Associates will be advanced with renewed vigor, accountability, and intent, ensuring that the goals of all stakeholders are met,” Gaur added.
Offering his “heartfelt wishes” to the Adani Group as they embark on this new chapter, Gaur remarked, “I commend the fair and transparent process led by the Committee of Creditors and the Resolution Professional, and I extend my gratitude to both the Adani Group and the Vedanta Group for their involvement and interest.”
He emphasized that Jaiprakash Associates Limited has transcended being just a company; it represents a lifelong journey of dedication, resilience, and nation-building since its inception in 1979. The Jaypee Group has established an institution that has delivered landmark projects like the Buddh International Circuit, significant hydropower initiatives, cement production capacity, and comprehensive developments such as Jaypee Wish Town, Jaypee Greens, and Jaypee Sports City.
Additionally, he pointed out that the recent financial hurdles that led to the Corporate Insolvency Resolution Process have posed challenges for all stakeholders. During this period, the group collaborated sincerely and committedly with homebuyers, employees, lenders, and partners to facilitate a just and credible resolution, Gaur stated.
In a recent development, the Supreme Court dealt a setback to the Vedanta Group by declining to halt the implementation of the resolution plan established by Adani Enterprises for the financially troubled Jaiprakash Associates Ltd.
A bench led by Chief Justice (CJI) Surya Kant noted that the insolvency proceedings are scheduled for a final hearing before the National Company Law Appellate Tribunal (NCLAT) on April 10, concluding that there was no reason to intervene at this time.
