ICAR Denies Any Irregularities in Recruitment of Agricultural Scientists

New Delhi, Dec 30 (NationPress) The Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) has declared that no irregularities exist in the recruitment process of agriculture scientists as of Monday. The esteemed scientific body has dismissed recent press reports claiming "irregularities in appointments of Agricultural Scientists at ICAR and calling for an investigation into the matter."
ICAR has strongly condemned these unfounded accusations, labeling them as not only factually incorrect but also misleading. The organization criticized the allegations as arbitrary, unprecedented, and indicative of a lack of understanding.
“All recent recruitments have adhered strictly to the Model Qualifications approved by the Competent Authority,” ICAR stated. It further clarified that there has been no alteration in the essential qualifications for the position of Director at the Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI), New Delhi, since 2019, when Dr. A.K. Singh was appointed and subsequently retired in June.
“There has been no modification in the Essential Qualifications for any scientific role within ICAR over the past five years,” ICAR emphasized.
The organization also called out the media for distorting the facts, asserting that the current advertisement for the Director's position at IARI “was never invalidated” as claimed.
“There are no procedural lapses as alleged. It seems that a few discontented individuals are spreading rumors to mislead a Governing Body (GB) member for their own selfish interests,” ICAR added.
Moreover, ICAR mentioned that Dr. Cherukumalli Srinivasa Rao was appointed as Director of IARI while already holding the position of Director at the National Academy of Agricultural Research Management (NAARM) in Hyderabad.
“There are provisions that allow for an official to be relieved during a tour since an employee remains on official duty while traveling,” ICAR explained.
The organization took charge of the Director position at IARI only after Dr. Rao was formally relieved from NAARM, asserting that “there are no procedural anomalies in this case as such approvals can be granted via email and/or e-Office mode in accordance with established office procedures.”
ICAR concluded by stating that “all facts have been distorted and misreported” and demanded “a public apology.”
