Mumbai, March 7 (NationPress) India is experiencing a significant increase in female participation in higher education, with a remarkable 26 percent rise in women's university enrollment for the year 2024, as revealed by a report released on Friday.

The analysis conducted by TeamLease Edtech indicates that this notable growth represents a positive movement towards gender inclusivity in education.

Male enrollments also saw a moderate increase, rising by approximately 3.6 percent in the same timeframe. The combined growth has led to an overall student enrollment boost of about 12 percent from 2023 to 2024.

Male enrollment in these programs also experienced a substantial rise of roughly 66 percent.

“The increase in female applicants for both university and work-integrated programs signifies the evolving aspirations of today’s women. It is essential to consider this trend beyond just the higher education perspective. This movement is establishing a robust foundation for a more equitable workforce in the future,” stated Shantanu Rooj, Founder and CEO of TeamLease Edtech.

“We must continue to invest in accessible, industry-aligned educational pathways to ensure that more women can prosper in the workplaces of tomorrow,” Rooj emphasized.

These statistics highlight a progressive trend with heightened female participation in both traditional and work-integrated learning models.

The steady increase in female enrollments showcases the success of ongoing initiatives aimed at creating equitable opportunities and enhancing workforce preparedness among women in India.

The report underscores the growing demand for flexible, industry-aligned education, with women securing apprenticeship roles across critical sectors such as BFSI, Education and Training, IT, Recruitment, and customer experience and operations.
