New Delhi, April 1 (NationPress) In a significant relief for industries and businesses that heavily depend on cooking fuel, oil marketing firms on Tuesday declared a reduction of Rs 41 on commercial LPG gas cylinders (19 kilograms).

Nonetheless, the prices of domestic LPG cylinders utilized for household cooking remain unchanged in this update.

Starting from April 1, the revised retail price of 19 kg commercial LPG cylinders in New Delhi will be Rs 1,762.

In Mumbai, the current price is Rs 1,714.5, while in Kolkata, it is Rs 1,872 and in Chennai, it stands at Rs 1,924.50.

The last price adjustments occurred on March 1, when commercial LPG prices were increased by Rs 6 after a Rs 7 reduction in February.

Experts suggest that this price modification for commercial gas cylinders will directly benefit restaurants, hotels, and other commercial entities that utilize these LPG cylinders for their daily operations.

These pricing changes are part of the regular monthly updates based on global crude prices and other market dynamics.

Additionally, the number of refills of LPG cylinders by low-income households under the PM Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) has doubled over the past five years, with the annual per capita consumption for PMUY beneficiaries rising to nearly four-and-a-half cylinders, as per data presented in Parliament.

As of March 1, 2025, there are 10.33 crore PMUY connections throughout the nation. The refill cylinders under this initiative have doubled in five years. A total of 41.95 crore refills were provided in the first 11 months of the current financial year (FY25) until February, compared to 39.38 crore refills in the entirety of 2023-24, showcasing the success of the initiative, as reported by the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas in Parliament.

The number of refills in the fiscal year 2019-20 was 22.80 crore, indicating nearly a 100 percent increase in the current financial year compared to five years ago.
