Mumbai, March 27 (NationPress) In a strategic effort to enhance Maharashtra's international alliances in technology and innovation, IT Minister Ashish Shelar convened with South Australia Premier Peter Malinauskas, Australian Ambassador to India Philip Green, and Australian Consul General Paul Murphy on Thursday.
The conversation focused on promoting collaboration between South Australia and Maharashtra in Artificial Intelligence, Future Technologies, and Drone Manufacturing—two essential components shaping Maharashtra's IT aspirations for the future.
The meeting also featured Minister Shelar participating in a brief game of cricket with the visiting Australian representatives, reflecting the strong cultural and sporting connections between India and Australia.
During the discussions, Minister Shelar emphasized the government's ambitious plan to create a world-class AI & Future Technologies Centre of Excellence in Mumbai.
He requested the support of Premier Malinauskas to facilitate international collaboration between this proposed center and the University of Adelaide’s School of AI and Machine Learning, a globally recognized authority in the field.
Minister Shelar also updated Premier Malinauskas on Maharashtra’s drone policy and the state's initiatives to establish a Drone Manufacturing Centre of Excellence at Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar.
He investigated opportunities for collaboration with the University of South Australia in Drone Technology, Autonomous Systems, and Additive Manufacturing.
Acknowledging the initiatives from Maharashtra’s IT Ministry, Premier Malinauskas expressed his full support for both projects.
He assured Minister Shelar that he would personally reach out to both universities to foster closer academic, research, and industry cooperation between South Australia and Maharashtra.
