Nabi's Long Wait Finally Over

Auqib Nabi, the right-arm pacer from Jammu and Kashmir, replaces Nitish Kumar Reddy in the playing eleven. Nabi had earned a Test call-up for the series in Sri Lanka earlier this year on the back of a stellar domestic season — picking up 60 wickets as J&K lifted the Ranji Trophy — but did not get the chance to debut on that tour. Guwahati finally delivers that moment.

Nabi is also only the third player from Jammu and Kashmir to represent India in international cricket, following in the footsteps of Parvez Rasool and Umran Malik — a landmark for the region's cricketing growth.

Gill's Assessment at the Toss

India captain Shubman Gill explained the decision to bowl, citing conditions at the Barsapara surface. 'A bit more grass, and looks a little bit patchy at times. So I think there'll be a little bit more for the fast bowlers initially,' Gill said. He also flagged the intense heat and humidity in Guwahati as an additional challenge for his pace attack.

Gill acknowledged the side's fielding intensity in the middle overs as an area for improvement from the first ODI, adding: 'Hopefully I think this game is going to be a bit better. Even Rohit bhai was looking in good touch, so hopefully it's gonna be another good game for us.'

West Indies Make Four Changes

West Indies captain Shai Hope confirmed his side had made four changes to the playing eleven. Justin Greaves, who struck 101 in Thiruvananthapuram but sustained a calf injury in the process, is unavailable. Jewel Andrew, Matthew Forde, and Gudakesh Motie have also been dropped. Coming in are Sherfane Rutherford, Keemo Paul, Shamar Joseph, and Vitel Lawes.

Hope, accepting the toss loss, was philosophical: 'Coin toss is a 50-50 chance, and regardless of what happens, we got to do well. So we've got another opportunity today to put some runs on the board and try to get a good score and give our bowlers something to defend.'
