The Surrey Stint: Schedule and Availability

According to sources familiar with the development, Nabi secured his visa and was expected to depart from New Delhi on Sunday, 30 August. If travel proceeds without disruption, he is expected to be available for Surrey's match against Yorkshire beginning 2 September at The Oval. That fixture is followed by games against Sussex at Hove on 8 September and against Glamorgan at The Oval on 15 September.

'Yes, Auqib has got his visa for going to England, after all the paperwork was done. It is understood that he's expected to depart for England from New Delhi today. If all goes well, he may be available from the game starting on September 2,' a source told reporters on Sunday.

Why Selectors Are Watching Closely

The primary purpose of the county stint, according to sources, is for the Indian team management and selectors to evaluate whether Nabi can generate swing with the red Kookaburra ball in conditions that closely mirror what he will encounter in New Zealand. England's seam-friendly pitches and overcast skies are considered the closest available proxy for New Zealand conditions during the northern hemisphere summer.

Nabi was part of India's squad for the recent 1-0 Test series win over Sri Lanka but did not feature in either match. His Ranji Trophy credentials, however, are hard to overlook: he finished the last season as the leading wicket-taker with 60 wickets at an average of 12.56, spearheading Jammu & Kashmir's maiden Ranji Trophy championship.
