3rd Test: Simon Katich Slams India's 'Illogical Cricket' Against Travis Head

Brisbane, Dec 15 (NationPress) Former Australian batsman Simon Katich expressed strong disapproval of India's bowling tactics against Travis Head during the second day of play in the third Test at the Gabba, referring to it as 'illogical cricket'.
Katich's remarks followed the initial delivery of the 60th over, when Mohammed Siraj delivered a short ball to Head, who expertly lifted it to the boundary. Witnessing this strategy from Siraj left Katich quite dissatisfied.
"That is astonishing from Mohammed Siraj because just before, he had a fielder positioned right in that area and now he has bowled without a fielder there. That is just illogical. Illogical cricket.
"They have two players on the leg side, a deep point, and a fielder right in that position for this strategy against Travis Head, yet he bowls without the fielder. Now he’s going to place a fielder there. The opportunity has passed, mate," he stated while commentating for Channel 7.
The Indian team maintained a fielder at deep point for Head, indicating that he was already controlling the game and continued to accumulate a majority of his runs through the off-side. Additionally, India did not implement the bouncer tactic against Head, despite the cricketing community being aware of the left-handed batsman's vulnerability to sharp deliveries when he first arrives at the crease.
“I’m perplexed about the plan India has to dismiss Head. They are making it far too simple for him,” remarked former Australian captain David Warner on Fox Sports, as Head notched back-to-back Test centuries against India by the time tea was called.
"In India, they refer to him as Travis Head-ache," added former India head coach Ravi Shastri.
