Chennai, Feb 1 (NationPress) The young racing prodigy from Bengaluru, Abhay Mohan, celebrated a remarkable achievement by winning one of the two prestigious single-seater National Championships at the esteemed MMSC fmsci Indian National Car Racing Championships 2024. He was thrilled to accept his inaugural National Championship Trophy during the glamorous MMSC Annual Awards ceremony held here.
The 16-year-old, who previously clinched the 2022 Junior National Karting title, showcased exceptional talent in his debut single-seater racing season, achieving an impressive 10 victories out of 12 races in the MRF 1600cc National Championship.
With a perfect blend of speed and remarkable racing techniques, he asserted his dominance, maintaining an all-win record until the second-last race of the final round.
Leading substantially in each of his races, he secured ten consecutive victories before facing a minor setback in the final round. Nonetheless, he had already established an insurmountable lead in the championship.
“The atmosphere is incredible, and I am overjoyed. This marks my first significant championship in single-seater Formula cars, and the season has been nothing short of spectacular. Although I have won the National title in karting, this achievement is monumental and holds a special place in my heart. I am immensely grateful to my parents and my team, and receiving the trophy from J Anand sir and Mammen sir makes it even more special,” expressed a jubilant Abhay Mohan during the awards presentation on Saturday.
Looking ahead to 2025, he aims for even greater accomplishments but remains committed to the same level of dedication and effort in pursuit of his aspirations.
In the meantime, the motorsport landscape in India is poised for significant advancements with the introduction of larger and more powerful vehicles in the near future, as indicated by Vicky Chandhok, Vice-President of the Madras Motor Sports Club.
During the MMSC Annual Awards ceremony recognizing the 2024 National Racing Championship winners, Chandhok stated: “While I cannot disclose specific details, we anticipate an influx of bigger and more powerful machines in the racing scene soon.
“Additionally, MMSC is striving to make motorsports more accessible, and our karting program at the Mika International Karting Arena is a crucial step in that direction,” he added.
