Ahmedabad, April 19 (NationPress) The International Schools Sports Organisation (ISSO) held the Gujarat Region Junior Swimming Championship at Adani International School, attracting 140 young swimmers from top international schools throughout the state.
This event underscored the increasing enthusiasm for swimming at the grassroots level and reaffirmed ISSO’s dedication to developing structured sporting pathways for emerging athletes.
In the overall championship rankings, Adani International School triumphed with a total of 253 points, while The Riverside School took second place with 147 points.
Ahmedabad International School secured third position with 104 points, followed by Anand Niketan International School (84 points), GEMS Genesis International School (55 points), Navrachana International School (35 points), and Calorx Olive International School (13 points).
The championship included competitions in the Under-9 and Under-11 categories, showcasing participants' remarkable technique, enthusiasm, and sportsmanship. Events like these are crucial for early exposure, talent identification, and the development of competitive skills in aquatic sports.
Venikha Parekh, an accomplished national swimmer, attended as the Guest of Honour, inspiring the young competitors by sharing insights from her own experiences.

Several individual champions stood out by winning three gold medals each. In the Under-9 category, Kaveer Kapadia and Aaren Gandhi from The Riverside School excelled in the boys’ events, while Meera Patel of Anand Niketan International School and Naina Bhagchandani of Ahmedabad International School shone in the girls’ category.
In the Under-11 category, Agastya Kabra and Anay Patel from Adani International School, alongside Yohan Pandya and Aariv Shah from Anand Niketan International School, performed exceptionally well in the boys’ events. In the girls’ category, Aarushi Shah from Ahmedabad International School and Shanaya Patel from The Riverside School also achieved three gold medals each, demonstrating impressive performances across all categories.
