New Delhi, Aug 9 (NationPress) The All India Football Federation has announced its unwavering support for the Indian Super League clubs amidst rising concerns over the league's suspension. Reports indicate that all 13 teams are eager to escalate the issue of the league's current halt to the attention of the Supreme Court.
The ISL remains on hold, with no definitive start date available due to complications surrounding the Masters Right Agreement with the FSDL, which has compelled several clubs to halt their football operations.
On August 7, 2025, during a crucial meeting in New Delhi, the AIFF reassured the CEOs of the 13 ISL clubs that they will undertake every necessary action in accordance with the Constitution and legal guidance to bolster the nation’s premier football league, as stated on Indian Football's 'X' handle.
During a press conference, AIFF president Kalyan Chaubey expressed confidence that the top-tier football league will proceed this year, although he emphasized that the AIFF will not meddle in the internal management of clubs, particularly concerning player and staff payments.
In a meeting in New Delhi, AIFF sought to address the ongoing situation. Following this, Chaubey confirmed that the ISL is set to occur this year, although he did not provide a definite timeline and avoided commenting on clubs suspending their first-team activities.
"The ISL is indeed happening this year. There’s no question about it; however, it's up to the clubs to manage their payments to players and staff. We cannot interfere - that’s standard practice in all leading leagues,"
Chaubey stated to reporters. He also mentioned that the Super Cup is projected to take place in the second or third week of September, allowing ISL clubs sufficient time to prepare and reacquire players. "We will announce the kick-off date in our next meeting," he added.
Furthermore, the president suggested scheduling the Super Cup during September to ensure ISL clubs have ample competitive matches amidst the uncertainty of the league’s restart.
