Beroun (Czech Republic), June 21 (NationPress) Amandeep Drall, who narrowly missed out on claiming her first Ladies European Tour (LET) title during her home event in 2022, delivered an outstanding performance with an 8-under 64 to take the lead after the opening round of the Tipsport Czech Ladies Open. With a remarkable tally of nine birdies against a single bogey, Amandeep achieved her best-ever round on the Ladies European Tour.
Amandeep, participating in only her second LET event this season and adeptly navigating the low-scoring dynamics at Royal Beroun Golf Club, expressed her delight, saying, “I’m very happy. Especially after last week (missing the cut in Belgium). Line reading was definitely the difference. I hit the ball well last week, but I couldn’t read the lines at all. I was so confused about the green. But coming into this week, I focused a lot on my putting. I concentrated on my stroke and my line.”
Among the other Indian players, rookie Hitaashee Bakshi started strong with a 4-under 68, placing her tied for 12th, while Diksha Dagar, beginning her round from the tenth, rebounded from a 2-over to finish at 2-under 70, securing a T-43 position on a day of low scores.
Avani Prashanth, who at one point was 3-under through six holes, concluded the day at 1-under 71 and was T-63. Tvesa Malik and Neha Tripathi both scored 72 to tie for 81st, while Sneha Singh with 73 was T-94, and Vani Kapoor finished with 74 to be T-106.
Amandeep, who was the runner-up in the 2022 Women’s Indian Open, marked her round with four consecutive birdies at the 13th, 14th, 15th, and 16th holes, giving the 32-year-old a one-shot advantage.
This remarkable career-best round is even more significant considering her absence from the LET in 2025 due to visa complications, with her only prior participation being at the Hulencourt Women’s Open. “I was probably making up for lost time,” remarked Amandeep, who previously secured a title on her local Hero Women’s Professional Golf Tour (WPGT) in India.
Following closely behind Amandeep are three English players, led by seasoned competitor Florentyna Parker. The three-time LET winner celebrated her 36th birthday by posting a bogey-free 65 (-7), placing her just one stroke behind the leader.
Matching Parker's score and sharing second place after 18 holes is fellow English player Lianna Bailey, who also competes in the LET Access Series (LETAS).
One stroke back is rookie Esme Hamilton, who achieved a bogey-free 66 (-6), her best round yet on the LET, and is joined in the fourth position by Alexandra Swayne.
