Hosur (Tamil Nadu), July 17 (NationPress) Neha Tripathi, a seasoned competitor on the Indian women’s golf circuit, delivered an impressive 7-under 65 that propelled her into a commanding 3-shot lead following the second round of the Rs 15 lakh ninth leg of the Women’s Pro Golf Tour at Clover Greens.
While the 33-year-old Neha ascended to the top, the previous leader Amandeep Drall experienced a significant setback with a 4-over 76, which was seven strokes worse than her opening round. Amandeep has now dropped from first place to a tie for ninth at the Clover Greens par-72 course.
Neha, who last celebrated a victory in 2023—a year in which she claimed three trophies—followed up her initial round of 1-under 71 with a remarkable 65 featuring six birdies and an eagle against one bogey.
After facing injuries last season, Neha is working hard to regain her form and consistency. She carded four birdies on the front nine with only one bogey, her only mistake. On the back nine, she achieved an eagle on the 12th hole, followed by birdies on the 13th and 16th, resulting in her 65.
Her last victory was during the 15th leg of the 2023 season at the Royal Calcutta Golf Club.
Neha holds a three-shot advantage over Jasmine Shekar (72-67), who enjoyed a bogey-free second round. Jasmine secured three birdies on the front nine and added two more on the back nine.
In third place, Kriti Chowhan, seeking her first professional win, made a strong move with a 69 after an opening round of 73. Amateur Saanvi Somu (73-70) ranks fourth.
Four-time winner this season, Vani Kapoor, improved significantly on her first round of 75, posting a 3-under 69 featuring six birdies and three bogeys. She is tied for fifth alongside amateur Keya Badugu (75-69), Sneha Singh (72-72), and Seher Atwal (71-73), all at even par 144.
Vani registered three birdies with no bogeys on the front nine, while her back nine included three birdies, three bogeys, and three pars.
Ridhima Dilawari (74-71), Lavanya Jadon (73-72), and Amandeep Drall (69-76) are tied for ninth position at 1-over 145, with Vidhatri Urs (72-74) in 12th place.
The cut was set at 8-over 152, with 22 participants making the cut for the final round. Noteworthy players who missed the cut include Agrimal Manral (76-77), Durga Nittur (74-79), who fell short by one shot, and Karishma Govind.
