Did Amandeep Drall Secure Her First Title of the Season at the 7th Leg of WPGT?

Mysuru, May 31 (NationPress) Amandeep Drall, recognized as one of the top talents in the domestic circuit, marked her return to victory at the seventh leg of the Women’s Pro Golf Tour (WPGT) held at the Jayachamaraja Wadiyar Golf Club. She achieved a third consecutive round of 1-over 71, clinching the title nearly 15 months after her previous victory in March 2024.

Amandeep has maintained a remarkable streak, winning at least once every year since 2015, solidifying her reputation as one of the most dependable players on the Hero Tour. She becomes the fourth player this season to achieve victory, following Vani Kapoor (3 wins), Sneha Singh (2 wins), and Rhea Purvi Saravanan. Amandeep recorded scores of 71-71-71, culminating in a total of 3-over 213, finishing two shots ahead of Ridhima Dilawari, who managed a 1-under 69 but fell short at the JWGC. Ridhima’s score was notable as one of the few under-par rounds during a week filled with rain and challenging scoring conditions.

Vani Kapoor, who dominated the fourth, fifth, and sixth legs, ended tied for third with second-round leader Rhea Purvi Saravanan. Vani finished with rounds of 71-72-73, while Rhea recorded scores of 72-68-76. Amandeep, a former runner-up at the Women’s Indian Open, is aiming to reclaim her spot on the Ladies European Tour after losing her card last year.

Starting the final round two shots behind 36-hole leader Rhea, Amandeep, alongside Vani Kapoor, began strong with a birdie on the first hole. As Rhea bogeyed the second hole, they were tied for the lead. The competition was intense, with Rhea briefly regaining the lead after Amandeep dropped a shot on the sixth hole.

Rhea held a narrow one-shot advantage until the 12th hole. On the par-4 13th, when Rhea incurred her fifth bogey, the two players were once again tied.

With two holes remaining, Amandeep and Rhea were tied at 3-over, with Ridhima and Vani trailing behind.

Amandeep maintained her composure, while Vani recorded one birdie and two bogeys, including one on the 18th, finishing at 6-over. Ridhima exchanged a birdie and a bogey over the 13th and 14th holes, concluding with a birdie on the 18th to finish at 5-over.

Rhea, however, stumbled in the final stretch with a double bogey on the par-4 17th and another bogey on the par-5 18th. While Amandeep kept her cool, making pars on the last seven holes, Ridhima finished second, while Vani and Rhea ended in a tie for third.

In the standings, Khushi Khanijau (69) and Jasmine Shekar (71) finished tied for fifth, while Ananya Garg (70) and Vidhatri Urs (75) were tied for seventh. Lavanya Jadon (72) secured eighth place, and Astha Madan (74) alongside Neha Tripathi (75) rounded out the Top 10.

Vani Kapoor continues to lead the Order of Merit with three wins, two second-place finishes, and one third-place finish in six starts. Sneha Singh is in second, followed closely by Amandeep Drall in third, with Jasmine Shekar and Lavanya Jadon in fourth and fifth, respectively.
