New Delhi, March 5 (NationPress) Antony, currently on loan at Real Betis from Manchester United, appears to have adapted well to life in Spain, netting three goals and providing two assists in just seven matches. The Brazilian's representative, Junior Pedroso, argues that the remarks made by Manchester United's head coach Ruben Amorim, which attribute Antony's struggles in England to his physical limitations, do not reflect reality.

Junior Pedroso, who represents the Brazilian player known as Antony Matheus dos Santos, asserts that Amorim's comments regarding Antony's physical shortcomings as the reason for his lack of success at United are misleading.

“We appreciate coach Ruben Amorim's perspective, but we fundamentally disagree with his interpretation. To solely link Antony's challenges at United to physicality is a superficial argument and does not reflect reality,” Pedroso stated to the Spanish media outlet Marca.

The 24-year-old Antony, standing at 1.74 m (5 ft 9 in), transferred to Manchester United in 2022 from the renowned Dutch club Ajax for a staggering 95 million Euros. However, he struggled to make a notable impact at the club, scoring only 12 goals in 96 appearances. His disappointing performance led to a loan move in the January transfer window, which will conclude in June.

“In England, physicality is a significant factor in every match. If you lack physicality, you will face tremendous challenges. Antony is performing much better in Spain now. This improvement is attributed to various factors, but I assure you, it’s largely due to physicality,” Amorim commented to TNT Sports.

Real Betis managed to secure Antony on loan by agreeing to cover the majority of his wages, and they hope to make his transfer permanent after his loan period ends, which would give the Red Devils a chance to recover some of the substantial fee they paid for the talented player.
