Manchester, Dec 24 (NationPress) The ongoing situation involving Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim and Marcus Rashford persists as the Portuguese coach stated that the English forward, as one of the more experienced members of the team, bears significant responsibilities.
Rashford has not played for the team since December 1 when he netted two goals in the 4-0 victory over Everton, marking Amorim's first league triumph at the club.
“Some players carry a great responsibility here due to their long tenure. With great talent comes the need for exceptional performance, strong responsibility, and deep commitment to motivate everyone during this challenging time. This may be one of the club's lowest points. We must confront it and be resilient,” Amorim expressed.
“If I had the solution to all the club's issues, I would resolve everything immediately. I have a clear plan in mind. While I can’t claim to be at ease, I’m genuinely frustrated. This is a tough phase, but we will tackle problems gradually and seek solutions,” Amorim stated during a press briefing.
At 27, Rashford has been a part of Manchester United since the onset of his career. However, amidst speculations of a rift with the new head coach, he hinted that it might be time for a new challenge. Reports indicate that the English player could depart his childhood club in the forthcoming January transfer window.
Amorim has insisted that he holds no grievances against Rashford, explaining that his absence from the squad is due to insufficient effort in training. He also mentioned that this situation will persist until he deems it the appropriate time to make changes.
“When I believe it is the right moment, I will make adjustments; until then, my focus remains on what is best for the team. I communicate with him daily, not regarding the interview but concerning his performance.
“This is my decision. He has the desire to play. He is making an effort. This is solely my choice. I am committed to doing things my way, as straying from that path would lead to losing my sense of self, and I refuse to let that happen. I know what I am doing,” he concluded.
