New Delhi, Jan 8 (NationPress) Marcus Rashford’s representatives have begun negotiations with AC Milan concerning the loan transfer of the Manchester United forward in the upcoming January transfer window.
As per a report from The Athletic, Dwaine Maynard, Rashford’s brother and agent, traveled to Milan on Tuesday to engage in discussions with the club's recruitment team.
With Rashford’s contract with the Red Devils set to expire in the summer of 2028, a deal in the winter transfer window appears improbable. In addition to AC Milan, Borussia Dortmund is also interested in acquiring him on a season-long loan, similar to the arrangement they had with United for Jadon Sancho during the 2023/24 season.
Rashford has not played for the team since December 1, when he netted two goals in the 4-0 victory against Everton, marking Amorim’s first league win at the club.
At 27 years old, Rashford has spent his entire career at Manchester United, but amid speculations of a disagreement with the new head coach, he has expressed a desire for a ‘new challenge’.
Reports indicate that the English player may leave his childhood club in the forthcoming January transfer window.
Despite this, Amorim has firmly stated that he harbors no issues with Rashford and has excluded him from United’s squad due to insufficient effort in training. The head coach recently mentioned he is not attempting to ‘make a point’ with Rashford’s omission.
“I focus on the team. You think a lot about Marcus, but I concentrate on the team. When I’m making selections, I’m not trying to send a message. My goal is simply to win the game.
“And you can sense it – I’m referring to our strategy and the fight against relegation. Do I wish to send a message during a match? No, my only objective is to achieve victory. We have numerous players available, and so he is out. As I mentioned, each week I select my players. He was eligible to be chosen, but this time he isn’t,” Amorim stated in a press conference.
