Borussia Dortmund Eye Loan Move for Manchester United's Marcus Rashford: Report

New Delhi, Jan 7 (NationPress) Borussia Dortmund is showing interest in signing Marcus Rashford after the forward has been absent from the Manchester United squad for a month. As reported by The Athletic, the German side has entered the competition, along with AC Milan and Juventus, aiming to secure Rashford's services.
Although Rashford’s contract with the Red Devils runs until the summer of 2028, making a permanent transfer in the winter window unlikely, Dortmund is optimistic about recruiting him on a season-long loan. This arrangement would mirror the deal Dortmund made with United for Jadon Sancho in the 2023/24 season. Rashford has not played since December 1, when he netted two goals in a 4-0 victory against Everton, marking Amorim’s first league win at the club.
At 27 years old, Rashford has spent his entire career at Manchester United, but amid speculation regarding a rift with the new head coach, he expressed a desire for a ‘new challenge’.
Reports indicate that the English forward might be departing from his boyhood club during the upcoming January transfer window.
Despite this, Amorim has been firm in stating that he has no issues with Rashford, explaining that the player’s exclusion from the squad is due to insufficient effort in training. The head coach recently remarked that he is not attempting to ‘make a point’ through Rashford’s omission.
“I prioritize the team. I think a lot about Marcus, but the focus is on the team. My goal is not to make a statement, but to win the game,” Amorim said in a press conference. “We face a challenging situation – I’m referring to the fight against relegation. My aim isn’t to make a statement during matches. We have many players available, and this time he was not selected. My choices are based on performance each week,” Amorim added.
