New Delhi, April 23 (NationPress) Marcus Rashford is not dismissing the possibility of a return to Manchester United at the conclusion of his loan spell at Aston Villa, but it seems improbable that he will feature under head coach Ruben Amorim.
According to a report from the BBC, Rashford aspires to compete for a club in the UEFA Champions League next season. Manchester United could still offer this opportunity if they succeed in winning the Europa League, yet he will postpone any decisions until the season wraps up. While the club may wish to retain a player of his caliber, his departure was marked by tension after being sidelined by the new coach.
Since his transfer to Villa, Rashford has netted four goals and provided six assists during the crucial late-season push.
This season, Rashford made 15 Premier League appearances for United, scoring in Amorim’s inaugural match, a 1-1 draw against Ipswich Town on November 24, and netting two more in a 4-0 victory over Everton the following week. He hadn’t featured since being omitted from the lineup for the Manchester derby on December 15, before joining Aston Villa on loan in February.
The 27-year-old has accumulated 138 goals in over 400 appearances for the Red Devils, having risen through the academy at Old Trafford. He has lifted the Europa League, two FA Cups, and two League Cups with his childhood club. His most prolific season was 2022/23, during which he scored 30 goals across all competitions, being the first United player to reach that tally since Robin van Persie in 2013. He was honored as both the Sir Matt Busby Player of the Year and the Players’ Player of the Year that season.
“I am extremely pleased with him. He is showing excellent form. His adjustment has been swift, and his dedication to our objectives is crucial for both us and him. He must continue this momentum, and on Saturday, we hope he can contribute once more,” stated Emery following Villa's defeat against City, where Rashford scored.
