Currently holding the 7th rank with 9 points, India anticipates a formidable challenge from Argentina, who stands at 2nd place on the FIH Pro League (Women) points leaderboard.
"Argentina is globally ranked No. 2 and has claimed victory in 7 out of their 12 FIH Pro League matches to date. We recognized that they would be one of the hardest teams to overcome in this leg of the league. However, we are determined not to back down — we’ll fight with everything we have in both games. The team has been training diligently to prepare for them and is implementing various strategies to secure vital points against them," Salima was quoted as saying by Hockey India.
The Indian women's hockey team will face Argentina in their first match on June 17, followed by another confrontation on June 18. Both matches will be held at Lee Valley Hockey & Tennis Centre in London.
Vice-captain Navneet Kaur echoed Salima's sentiments, stating, "As demonstrated in our previous matches against Australia, we put up a strong fight, and we intend to maintain that spirit against Argentina. We are committed to achieving victory. A win against Argentina will not only boost our points but also significantly enhance team morale as we prepare for upcoming matches in Antwerp and Berlin against Belgium and China."
