Abu Dhabi, Sep 15 (NationPress) Oman won the toss and chose to bowl first against the United Arab Emirates in the seventh match of the Asia Cup 2025 Group A at Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium.
Oman gave T20I debut to Aryan Bisht, who had previously played in two ODIs during the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup League 2 earlier this year in May. The talented player is now set to experience his inaugural T20I match as Oman aims to recover in the Asia Cup.
For the UAE, Simranjeet Singh will not participate in this match, while Muhammad Jawad returns to the squad.
Oman’s captain Jatinder Singh stated, "We are opting to bowl first. The ball tends to come onto the bat nicely at night, and it travels quickly. We had an off day previously, but the boys will focus and have a good outing today. We have made three changes, with Aryan Bisht making his debut today."
The pressure is mounting on the two Gulf nations after India's overwhelming victory over the UAE and Pakistan's significant win against Oman. The UAE struggled against India, collapsing for just 57 runs with minimal resistance, save for brief performances from their openers and a single wicket from Junaid Siddique.
Oman faced a similar fate, bowled out for just 67 while chasing Pakistan's score of 160/7, despite commendable bowling from debutant Faisal Shah and seasoned player Aamir Kaleem.
UAE captain Muhammad Waseem expressed, "We are pleased to bowl first as the pitch appears promising. We approach today with a fresh strategy and aim to secure our sixth match victory against them. There’s one change; Simranjeet is out, and Jawad is in."
