Mumbai, Oct 21 (NationPress) The chairman of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC), Mohsin Naqvi, has proposed to host a celebration in Dubai next month to officially present the Asia Cup trophy to the Indian men's cricket team. This event, set to take place on November 10, comes after a series of correspondence between the Asian Cricket Council and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

Naqvi, who also serves as the president of the Pakistan Cricket Board and the Interior Minister of Pakistan, made known his plan to hand over the trophy on November 10, according to a report by Telecom Asia Sport.

“We have exchanged multiple letters with the BCCI, and the ACC has informed them that we are prepared to host Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav and his team, alongside BCCI official Rajiv Shukla, to receive the trophy at a ceremony in Dubai on November 10,” Naqvi stated to the media in Karachi.

After defeating Pakistan in the final on September 28, the Indian team declined to accept the trophy from Naqvi, who had insisted on presenting it personally as the ACC president. The impasse lasted nearly an hour before Naqvi ultimately ordered the trophy to be removed from the stadium, as reported by www.telecomasia.net.

Subsequently, India’s skipper Suryakumar humorously shared the trophy with his teammates. Ultimately, the Indian squad left without taking the trophy.

The Indian players chose not to accept the Asia Cup trophy from Naqvi due to his connection to terrorism in India as Pakistan's Interior Minister.

Indian reports suggested that the BCCI might address this issue during upcoming meetings with the International Cricket Council (ICC) and the ACC. The ICC Board meeting is scheduled to take place in Dubai from November 4-7.

“The ACC has communicated to the BCCI that a ceremony can be organized in Dubai on November 10. Bring your captain and players to receive the trophy from me,” Naqvi added.

India triumphed over Pakistan in all three encounters of the Asia Cup, and the Indian players refrained from shaking hands with their Pakistani counterparts in each match.

Suryakumar dedicated their first match victory to the victims of the Pahalgam terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir, a comment that resulted in a 30 percent match fee fine imposed by the ICC.

Pakistan pacer Haris Rauf was also fined 30 percent of his fee for displaying political slogans during the second match, also held in Dubai on September 21, while opener Sahibzada Farhan was not penalized for his gun-firing celebration with the bat after reaching fifty in the second game.
