Australia Invites Uncapped Players Trenaman and Brown for Test Match Against India
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Melbourne, March 2 (NationPress) Australia has named the uncapped duo of Rachel Trenaman and Maitlan Brown to their squad for the upcoming one-off Test against India, scheduled to start at the WACA Ground in Perth on March 6.
This new addition comes as a response to the injuries sustained by Garth and Ellyse Perry, alongside Sophie Molineux, who is dealing with a back issue.
Trenaman, making her debut in the Australian squad, will serve as a replacement for Perry, who is struggling with a quad injury. If she recovers in time, she will participate as a batter in Perth. Meanwhile, key bowler Kim Garth has already been ruled out due to her own injury.
On the other hand, Brown returns to the Australian setup for the first time since 2021. The 28-year-old fast bowler has had an impressive domestic season, securing 16 wickets across 10 matches for New South Wales.
Both Trenaman and Brown took part in a red-ball four-day match for Australia A against India A in Brisbane last August.
With captain Sophie Molineux sidelined due to her back problem, Alyssa Healy will lead the team in what will be her final international game before retiring.
Healy had a standout performance, scoring 158 in the last ODI against India in Hobart, helping Australia secure a dominant 8-4 lead in the multi-format series. She will once again captain the side in Perth.
