Will Ayush Badoni and Priyansh Arya Miss Delhi’s Ranji Trophy Match Due to India A Selection?
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
New Delhi, Jan 28 (NationPress) Ayush Badoni and Priyansh Arya will not participate in Delhi’s concluding Ranji Trophy Elite Group D match against Mumbai, commencing at the BKC Ground on Thursday, as they have been selected for the India A team for two warm-up fixtures leading up to the Men’s T20 World Cup.
The India A squad is set to compete against the USA at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai on February 2, followed by a match against Namibia at the BCCI CoE Ground in Bengaluru on February 6, in preparation for the Men’s T20 World Cup scheduled in India and Sri Lanka from February 7 to March 8.
Ashok Sharma, Secretary of DDCA, informed IANS that Ayush Doseja, who is currently the top run-scorer in the ongoing Ranji Trophy, will lead the Delhi team in their seventh-round clash against Mumbai. While Mumbai has already secured a spot in the knockouts, Delhi, currently in sixth place, seeks to conclude the domestic season positively.
“Ayush Badoni and Priyansh Arya will not be available for tomorrow’s Ranji Trophy match, as they have been included in the India A squad for warm-up games against the USA and Namibia in Navi Mumbai and Bengaluru, respectively,” Sharma stated to IANS on Wednesday.
“Ayush Doseja will captain Delhi in the Ranji Trophy fixture against Mumbai, as he is the leading run-scorer of the tournament so far,” Sharma added.
Badoni has previously played in both four-day and List-A formats for India A and will be rejoining the setup along with Arya, who has thus far represented the team exclusively in limited-overs formats.
Earlier this month, Badoni received his first call-up to the Indian team, stepping in for an injured Washington Sundar during the three-match ODI series against New Zealand. However, Badoni, who practices at the renowned Sonnet Club in New Delhi, did not get a chance to play in the series, which India lost 2-1.
