Abu Dhabi, Sep 16 (NationPress) In an exciting Group B clash at the Men's T20 Asia Cup held at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium, Bangladesh's captain Litton Das won the toss and chose to bat first against Afghanistan on Tuesday.
Bangladesh has made four adjustments to their team, bringing back Taskin Ahmed while opting for a bowling combination that includes three spinners and two fast bowlers.
"We’ll bat first. The team is eager for this match; it’s crucial for us to win. The pitch appears slightly slow; achieving 160 runs would be a commendable target. Although it’s a decent batting pitch, it has a slower nature. The atmosphere in our camp is positive; we’ve had a successful few months. We can't dwell on past performances. We’ve made four changes, with Taskin returning. Our bowling line-up consists of three spinners and two pacers," stated Litton Das during the toss.
In contrast, Afghanistan will enter the match with the same lineup that faced Hong Kong in their tournament opener.
"I would have preferred to bat first as well, but in T20 cricket, it’s not a significant factor. The players enjoyed a three-day break, and we conducted a productive practice session. Our bowling unit is our key strength, particularly in spin bowling. We must perform cohesively and target the right areas consistently. We are focused on maintaining a positive outlook. The players feel great and are excited to play. We will field the same team that competed against Hong Kong," remarked Rashid Khan, captain of Afghanistan.
This match is a must-win for Bangladesh after their previous defeat to Sri Lanka. The Bangla Tigers commenced their campaign with a commanding seven-wicket victory over Hong Kong.
On the flip side, Afghanistan dominated Hong Kong by 94 runs in their opening match and currently holds second place in Group B, trailing Sri Lanka, who has accumulated four points with two wins.
