This marks the first Bangladesh tour to Sri Lanka in four years. The last encounter was in April-May 2021, where Bangladesh faced a setback, losing the Test series 1-0. The first Test concluded in a draw in Pallekele, while Sri Lanka triumphed in the second Test by a substantial margin of 209 runs.
The forthcoming Test matches are scheduled to be held in Galle (June 17-21) and Colombo (June 25-29), marking the start of the new World Test Championship (WTC) cycle for both teams.
Following the Tests, the teams will compete in three ODIs on July 2, 5, and 8, with the first two matches taking place in Colombo and the final one in Pallekele. The tour will conclude with three T20Is, slated for July 10, 13, and 16 across Pallekele, Dambulla, and Colombo.
Prior to their tour of Sri Lanka, Bangladesh has upcoming T20I matches to focus on. They will challenge the UAE in a two-match T20I series in Sharjah, followed by a five-match T20I series in Pakistan from May 27 to June 3, with wicketkeeper-batter Litton Das leading the squad.
Recently, Bangladesh faced Zimbabwe at home, concluding the Test series in a 1-1 draw, highlighted by remarkable performances from Mehidy Hasan Miraz, who achieved three five-wicket hauls across two matches.
On the other hand, Sri Lanka's last international engagement was against Australia at home in February, resulting in a defeat in the two-match Test series, but they succeeded in the ODIs, winning 2-0.
