Barbastro, Deportivo Minero, and Logrones Set for Exciting Third Round Copa del Rey Matches

Madrid (Spain), Dec 9 (NationPress) The fourth-tier (RFEF II) teams Barbastro and Deportivo Minero are set to host FC Barcelona and Real Madrid in the third round of the Copa del Rey. Meanwhile, the current cup holders, Athletic Club Bilbao, will make a short journey to face Logrones.
During the draw held in Madrid on Monday, the four teams that participated in the Spanish Supercup earlier in January were included for the first time, with the seeding system ensuring they face the lowest-ranked teams remaining in the competition, even though all the underdogs eliminated top-tier teams in the second round.
Last season’s runner-up, Mallorca, will travel to Galicia to take on Pontevedra following Pontevedra's remarkable second-round victory against Villarreal, according to reports from Xinhua.
Deportivo Minero’s match against Real Madrid is scheduled to take place in Cartagena, located in the southeast of Spain, as a reward for their triumph over the La Liga side Deportivo Alaves in the second round via a penalty shootout.
Barbastro, after their second-round win against Espanyol, will meet Barcelona for the second consecutive season, following last year’s close match that ended 3-2 in favor of Barca, with goals from Fermin Lopez, Raphinha, and Robert Lewandowski.
Other noteworthy matches in the third round include an Andalucian derby featuring second-division contenders Almeria and Sevilla, Atletico Madrid visiting third-tier Marbella, and second-division leaders Racing de Santander hosting Celta Vigo.
