New Delhi, March 31 (NationPress) The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is gearing up to launch a women's version of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) 2026, set to kick off in July this year. However, the future of cricketing relations with India remains uncertain.
The announcement regarding the women's T20 league was made by Rubaba Dowla, Director of the BCB and Chairperson of the Women's Wing, during a conversation with IANS on Tuesday.
Rubaba, however, chose not to comment on the potential resumption of cricketing ties or the postponed tours of both Indian men’s and women’s teams to Bangladesh, which were delayed last year due to prevailing conditions in Bangladesh.
The tours were postponed as relations between the two nations deteriorated significantly during the tenure of an interim government in Bangladesh.
Many in India have urged the BCCI to refrain from sending teams to Bangladesh, citing concerns over incidents of mob violence and targeted attacks against Hindus in the country.
