BGT 2024-25: Hazlewood Indicates Readiness for Brisbane Test Following Full Run-Up Training

Brisbane, Dec 12 (NationPress) Josh Hazlewood has indicated his readiness to participate in the forthcoming third Border-Gavaskar Trophy Test, commencing on December 14 at the Gabba, after being observed training with a full run-up during the hosts' practice session at Allan Border Field on Thursday.
Hazlewood had missed Australia’s ten-wicket victory at the Adelaide Oval due to a side strain, with Scott Boland stepping in and taking five wickets. A report from cricket.com.au mentioned that Hazlewood opted to bowl at full intensity at Allan Border Field, while Australia’s main training session occurred at the Gabba on Thursday.
“The 32-year-old persevered through a rigorous 45-minute session under the intense Queensland sun alongside his long-time teammate Mitchell Starc. The duo bowled to Test squad member Josh Inglis and Queensland batter Lachlan Hearne. Bowling coach Dan Vettori was also present for this additional training session,” it stated.
Hazlewood resumed his bowling practice midway through the second Test last week, and the Australian medical team will be closely monitoring his fitness for the Brisbane match, as well as for the upcoming Tests in Melbourne and Sydney.
“The great thing about Josh is he maintains a very even temperament. He will do everything possible to prepare for the game, and it will be up to the leadership group and selectors to make the final decision,” remarked seam-bowling all-rounder Mitchell Marsh.
Marsh also confessed to having a 'mare' after neglecting to review his caught-behind dismissal against veteran off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin in Adelaide, as television replays indicated there was no edge from his bat.
“The reality is I thought I hit it – and I didn’t – and I didn’t consult with Heady. I had a 'mare (nightmare) – there’s your headline on Instagram, isn’t it? Honestly, I genuinely believed I hit it, so I walked off,” he shared.
“It’s amusing – in the locker room, ‘Gazza’ (Nathan Lyon) asked me if I hit it, and I replied, ‘Yeah, smashed it mate.’ The replay was shown, and my head went into my hands. About a minute later, everyone was laughing at my expense. My bad.”
