Manila (Philippines), Oct 22 (NationPress) Gaganjeet Bhullar, one of India's premier golfers, is aiming for a breakthrough at the International Series Philippines after recently experiencing a tough finish in Indonesia. Just three weeks ago, he was in contention for the title at the Jakarta International Championship, sharing the lead with Zimbabwe's Scott Vincent and Australia's Wade Ormsby going into the final day.
Despite a challenging final round that saw Bhullar drop to T19, Ormsby, who won the 2023 International Series Thailand, triumphed over Vincent, who had recently claimed victory in International Series Morocco. This outcome placed Vincent at the top of the rankings, securing him a prime position for a coveted LIV Golf spot next season, while Ormsby moved into third place. Currently, Bhullar is positioned 35th and is in need of strong performances as the series nears an exciting conclusion with substantial points available in the next four tournaments over five weeks.
“It’s been a productive year. I've been hitting the ball well and maintaining consistency. In Jakarta, I was leading for most of the tournament, but Wade played exceptionally well towards the end. I’ve been enhancing my mental game through focus, visualization, and meditation, and I feel both mentally and physically prepared,” he remarked.
Facing a formidable lineup that includes former world No.1 Dustin Johnson and other major champions like Patrick Reed, Charl Schwartzel, and Louis Oosthuizen, along with an additional 11 LIV Golf stars, Bhullar understands the challenge ahead.
“My approach remains the same - 72 holes, aiming for more birdies and fewer bogeys. It’s thrilling to see such an exceptional field. The presence of these superstars elevates the goals of the International Series and benefits the development of golf in Asia,” he stated.
Other notable Indian golfers participating this week include the talented Rayhan Thomas, SSP Chawrasia, Ajeetesh Sandhu, and Karandeep Khochhar.
