New Delhi, April 17 (NationPress) Former South Africa wicketkeeper-batter Mark Boucher praised Mitchell Starc for his remarkable performance during the Delhi Capitals' exhilarating Super Over victory against the Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2025 at Arun Jaitley Stadium on Wednesday.

Starc adeptly defended nine runs in the final over before allowing just 11 in the Super Over, which the home team successfully chased down in four balls, concluding a night to remember.

“Starc was exceptional in that final over. Although he has experienced an up-and-down season thus far—having been hit early with the new ball—during critical moments, teams depend on their senior players, and he came through. He nailed nearly every delivery. This is precisely what you anticipate from someone with his level of experience and significance. He executed his field placements flawlessly and carried out his strategies effectively.

“That over brought Delhi Capitals back into the match. Once they regained control, you could sense they had the upper hand over the Rajasthan Royals in the Super Over—they had the superior combination,” Boucher remarked on JioHotstar.

This victory marked Delhi's first win of the season in their home city, having previously been unsuccessful against the Mumbai Indians last week.

After being asked to bat first, contributions from Abhishek Porel (49), KL Rahul (38), along with late innings from Axar Patel (34 off 14 balls) and Tristan Stubbs (34 not out off 18 balls) propelled Delhi Capitals to a total of 188/5 in 20 overs.

In response, spirited bowling from Delhi bowlers restricted Rajasthan to 188/4 in 20 overs, resulting in a tie and leading to a Super Over. Starc's performance in the Super Over secured Delhi the top position in the points table with 10 points from six matches.

Commenting on Stubbs' redemption arc during the game, Boucher noted, “Stubbs will likely return to his hotel room, say a little prayer, and be grateful for the opportunity to redeem himself. That dropped catch was pivotal, and it could have simplified the outcome had it been taken. However, he seized another chance to win the game—and he did. He’ll be very pleased with how it turned out.”
