Dharamshala, May 8 (NationPress) Mitchell Starc, the left-arm fast bowler for Delhi Capitals (DC), acknowledged that the continuous travel and hectic schedule present significant challenges during the 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL). Starc has emerged as DC’s top wicket-taker in the tournament, claiming 14 wickets across 11 matches. “Having all the elite players in one place can be quite demanding. You need to compartmentalize and focus on your responsibilities,” he remarked during a discussion with broadcasters.
Regarding his role within the DC squad and the implementation of the Impact Player rule, Starc commented, “My strategy has always been to be aggressive - that’s how I've played across various formats. I aim to swing the ball and create breakthroughs, adapting to conditions as swiftly as possible.”
“With the Impact Player rule, it’s essential to think creatively and stay a step ahead. If the ball isn’t swinging, finding alternative ways to remain effective is crucial. As bowlers, some have adapted better than others,” he added.
When questioned about his technique for bowling yorkers, Starc explained, “It all hinges on execution; some days it will work, while on others, it won’t. There are times when you’ll bowl an over that clinches the game, and then there are days when the batsman gets the better of you.”
“Having been in the game long enough, I’ve learned to be like a goldfish, quickly refocusing on the next match. There will be misses, but sometimes you’ll hit six in a row. Unfortunately, it’s not always going to be perfect,” he stated.
Josh Inglis, who scored a notable 30 after being elevated to the number three position for PBKS in their 37-run victory over Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), shared that the three sixes he hit off Mayank Yadav were purely instinctive.
“Those sixes were just me reacting to the ball. The decision to move to number three was made by Shreyas and Ricky, who wanted me to bat during the powerplay. I thoroughly enjoyed my innings,” he said.
“This team is performing exceptionally well; I’m happy to contribute wherever needed. Ponting has been fantastic, sharing his extensive experience and effectively communicating with the younger players.”
Inglis concluded by discussing the hurdles of playing cricket in India. “The varying conditions present challenges, and the abundance of world-class bowlers means you could face spinning tracks or high-quality wickets,” he remarked.
