Bournemouth, July 16 (NationPress) AFC Bournemouth has officially revealed the acquisition of goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic from Chelsea. The Serbian international has signed a five-year contract and is set to join the squad promptly as they prepare for their pre-season tour to the United States.
Petrovic, who boasts 23 appearances in the Premier League, had an impressive loan spell at Ligue 1 club Strasbourg during the 2024/25 season.
“I am truly delighted to be here. My decision to come to Bournemouth stems from my desire to develop and compete at the highest level. With this club and its exceptional facilities, I believe we can achieve great things together. I aim to assist the team in securing results, improving daily, and evolving as a player,” he stated.
The 25-year-old played a significant role in helping the team finish seventh, thus earning a spot in the UEFA Conference League. His performances led to him being named the club’s Player of the Season and receiving a nomination for the Goalkeeper of the Season in Ligue 1.
Following the signing, AFC Bournemouth’s President of Football Operations, Tiago Pinto, expressed his enthusiasm on afcb.co.uk: “I am thrilled to welcome Djordje to our club. Acquiring a player of his caliber was an opportunity we couldn't miss, especially considering the critical nature of the goalkeeper position.
“We have actively sought the right talent to enhance this area of the pitch, and Djordje possesses remarkable qualities along with considerable experience for someone of his age. We are eager for him to contribute to our project and look forward to collaborating with him.”
Petrovic's arrival follows that of Adrian Truffert from Rennes and Junior Kroupi, who was on loan at FC Lorient during the latter half of the previous season.
