Bournemouth, Sep 6 (NationPress) AFC Bournemouth has officially announced that Marcus Tavernier has secured a contract extension with the club, ensuring his presence at Vitality Stadium until 2029.
The 26-year-old player joined the Cherries in the summer of 2022 and has since made 93 appearances across all competitions.
His memorable highlights include scoring a stunning winner from 25 yards against Fulham in April 2023 and contributing to a goal in last season’s match against Southampton, propelling the Cherries to fifth place in the Premier League and achieving a record unbeaten streak.
Most recently, Tavernier netted the decisive goal in a 1-0 victory over Wolves at Vitality Stadium, marking his first goal of the 2025/26 season and securing the Cherries’ initial win of the new campaign.
In light of the extension, AFC Bournemouth’s President of Football Operations, Tiago Pinto, expressed his satisfaction, stating, “Marcus is a player who consistently gives his all whenever he dons the shirt, and he is someone we genuinely enjoy working with.
“He is a well-liked figure in the dressing room, and I am eager to see his leadership abilities flourish in the coming seasons as we face the ongoing challenges of the Premier League.”
Tavernier remarked, “I am incredibly thankful for everything Bournemouth has provided me over the past few years. I am thrilled that they have demonstrated their appreciation by offering me this extension, allowing me to remain at this club where I feel so at home.
“This place has become dear to me, and it feels like my home away from home, which is a wonderful sentiment for both me and my family. We have started the season on a positive note, even in our first game where we put in a commendable performance against last season’s champions.
“Since then, we have displayed the potential we showcased last season, and I hope this continues.”
Tavernier has participated in all three of the club’s league matches this season thus far.
