Bournemouth, Feb 7 (NationPress) AFC Bournemouth forward Justin Kluivert has been recognized as the Premier League Player of the Month for January. He is now only the second player from the Cherries to receive this accolade, following Dominic Solanke, who won it in December 2023.

Kluivert has continued to show remarkable performance this season, scoring five goals and contributing two assists throughout an impressive month for both himself and the team.

The Dutch international was included in a prestigious shortlist that featured his Cherries teammate Dean Huijsen, who also had a standout January.

Other notable players on the shortlist included Phil Foden (Manchester City), Cody Gakpo (Liverpool), Alexander Isak (Newcastle), Jean-Philippe Mateta (Crystal Palace), and Bryan Mbeumo (Brentford).

Kluivert was instrumental as Andoni Iraola’s team kicked off the month with a challenging 1-0 victory over Everton at the Vitality Stadium, followed by scoring and assisting in the FA Cup triumph against West Brom.

He began his Premier League scoring for the month by coolly converting a penalty, which helped the Cherries secure a 2-2 draw against Chelsea, where Kluivert also struck the post at Stamford Bridge.

His highlight of the month came during the spectacular 4-1 win against Newcastle United at St James’ Park, where he netted a breathtaking hat-trick, marking his second treble in just nine games.

His performances, including an assist for Milos Kerkez to finish the scoring, extended the Cherries' unbeaten streak to ten matches and halted Newcastle’s nine-game winning run.

Kluivert began the scoring with a well-placed shot from Antoine Semenyo’s cutback and added another with a composed finish just before half-time to respond to Bruno Guimaraes' equalizer.

The 25-year-old capped off his hat-trick with a stunning drive during added time, earning a spot on the shortlist for Goal of the Month for January.

Just a week later, Kluivert showcased his skills in another dominant performance by Iraola’s squad, securing a 5-0 victory against high-flying Nottingham Forest at the Vitality Stadium.

His 11th league goal of the season set the Cherries in motion, as he capitalized on a retreating Forest defense to score with a powerful shot from 25 yards, also earning him another contender for Goal of the Month.

Kluivert further contributed by assisting Dango Ouattara, who scored the first of his three goals with a commanding header from Kluivert's pinpoint cross.
