New Delhi, April 1 (NationPress) Former captain Dwayne Bravo has vocally condemned West Indies Cricket for their choice to substitute Rovman Powell as T20I captain with Shai Hope.

During Powell's tenure, the West Indies experienced a revival in T20 cricket, achieving home series victories against India, England, and South Africa. He also led the team to the Super 8 stage at the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 and was instrumental in their rise from ninth to fifth in the ICC T20I rankings.

The ex-all-rounder took to social media, expressing that the decision was ‘tragic on all fronts’ and stated that ‘injustices towards players persist’.

"@windiescricket, once again you demonstrate to the Caribbean and the cricket community that injustices towards players persist!"

“As a former player and a supporter of WI cricket, this ranks among the worst decisions ever. @ravipowell52 took charge when our T20 team was in ninth place, managed to elevate it to third place in the rankings, and this is how you repay him? The mistreatment of players must end!"

“This is incredibly disheartening on all levels... make it make sense! SMH #JusticeForRP," Bravo posted on Instagram.

In addition to the change in white-ball leadership, Kraigg Brathwaite has also officially resigned as Test captain, with a new captain set to be announced in the coming weeks.

Under his leadership, the West Indies achieved their first Test victory in Australia in 27 years with a nail-biting eight-run win in Brisbane in 2024. Earlier in the year, he guided the team to a historic Test victory over Pakistan in Pakistan, their first in 34 years, leveling the series.
