Dubai, Feb 23 (NationPress) As the eagerly awaited India-Pakistan showdown in the 2025 Champions Trophy approaches at the Dubai International Stadium, fast-bowling ace Jasprit Bumrah was presented with his ICC Awards and Team of the Year caps in recognition of his outstanding performances throughout 2024.
A lower back injury incurred during the fifth Border-Gavaskar Trophy Test in Sydney has sidelined Bumrah from participating in the Champions Trophy, forcing him into a rehabilitation program at the BCCI Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru.
On Sunday, however, Bumrah made an appearance at the Dubai International Stadium to receive his awards and caps from ICC Chairman Jay Shah, with the International Cricket Council (ICC) sharing photos of the event on their social media platforms.
Bumrah secured the ICC Men’s Cricketer of the Year title and was honored with the esteemed Sir Garfield Sobers Award for a remarkable 2024, during which he claimed 71 wickets in the Test format at an average of 14.92. Additionally, he was named Player of the Tournament in India, winning the 2024 Men’s T20 World Cup held in the USA and the West Indies, where he took 15 wickets at an astonishing average of 8.26 and an economy rate of just 4.17.
He also received the ICC Men’s Test Cricketer of the Year accolade in a phenomenal year that saw him become the fastest Indian pacer to reach 200 Test wickets. Furthermore, he was included in the ICC Men’s Test Team of the Year and ICC Men’s T20I Team of the Year.
After receiving his awards and caps, Bumrah acknowledged his Indian teammates who were warming up for the highly anticipated match against Pakistan. Notably, Bumrah attended an India-Pakistan game in Dubai during last year's Women’s T20 World Cup.
