BWF World Tour Finals 2024: Treesa and Gayatri to Represent India in Season Finale

Hangzhou (China), Dec 10 (NationPress) Historically, singles players have upheld India's reputation in badminton until the rise of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty. Following their success, the women's doubles team of Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand has emerged as strong contenders, surpassing the singles players this year.
The duo is set to make a significant impact as they compete in the BWF World Tour Finals 2024, beginning on Wednesday at the Hangzhou Olympic Sports Center Gym.
Treesa and Gayatri will carry the hopes of the nation as the only representatives from India in the BWF World Tour Finals 2024 – Group Stage.
In their opening match, they will challenge the Chinese team of Liu Sheng Shu and Tan Ning in the women's doubles category. Despite missing out on qualifying for the 2024 Paris Olympics, the Indian pair demonstrated their potential by reaching the semifinals at both the Singapore Open and Macau Open.
Treesa and Gayatri find themselves in Group A alongside the Chinese duo, as well as Tan Pearly and Thinaan Muralitharan from Malaysia, and Nami Matsuyama and Chiharu Shida from Japan, in this eight-team, two-group tournament.
Group B consists of Rin Iwanaga and Kie Nakanishi from Japan, Baek Ha Na and Lee So Hee from South Korea, Febriana Dwipuji Kusuma and Chen Qing Chen, along with Jia Yi Fan.
The tournament also showcases some of the finest singles players globally, including Wang Zhiyi (China), Busanan Ongbamrungphan (Thailand), Kunlavut Vitidsarn (Thailand), Chou Tien-Chen (Chinese Taipei), Lee Zii Jia (Malaysia), and Jonatan Christie (Indonesia), among others.
