Cameron Green Resumes Running After Undergoing Surgery for Lower Back Stress Fracture

New Delhi, Jan 8 (NationPress) Australia’s fast-bowling all-rounder Cameron Green has revealed that he is back to running as he continues his recovery journey after having undergone surgery for a lower back stress fracture last October.
On Wednesday, Green took to his Instagram account to share a video of himself flexing his muscles while running and training at the WACA Ground in his hometown of Perth, captioning it with the phrase ‘we back’.
The 25-year-old was sidelined for the 2024/25 Australian summer, as well as the recent Border-Gavaskar Trophy series, after experiencing a recurrence of the lower back stress fracture for the fifth time during Australia’s white-ball tour of the United Kingdom.
Following this, Green underwent surgery in October 2024, performed by esteemed orthopaedic spine surgeons Grahame Inglis and Rowan Schouten in Christchurch, New Zealand. Notably, several other cricketers, including Jason Behrendorff, James Pattinson, Ben Dwarshuis, and New Zealand’s Shane Bond and Matt Henry, have also been treated by this surgical team.
Schouten, affiliated with the Forte Orthopaedics Hospital in Christchurch, is also recognized for performing surgeries on Indian pacers Jasprit Bumrah and Prasidh Krishna. During the procedure, screws and a titanium cable were inserted into Green’s lower back to stabilize the stress fracture, aiming to prevent future injuries and ensuring his longevity as a fast-bowling all-rounder.
Green has received an abundance of well wishes from the cricket community. “Can’t wait boyyyyyyyyyy,” expressed India’s T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav, who played alongside Green at the Mumbai Indians (MI) in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Australian top-order batter Marnus Labuschagne and Western Australia all-rounder Cooper Connolly also responded with supportive emojis.
There are optimistic expectations that Green may recover in time for Australia’s second consecutive World Test Championship final against South Africa at Lord’s in June. If that doesn’t occur, he could be included in Australia’s three-Test tour of the Caribbean during June and July.
