Celta Vigo Signs Iago Aspas to Contract Extension Until 2026

Vigo, Dec 25 (NationPress) Celta Vigo icon Iago Aspas has officially extended his contract for another year, ensuring he remains with his childhood club until June 2026. The club revealed this exciting news through a touching video presentation at Estadio de Balaídos, where he was joined by his wife, Jennifer Rueda, and their three children.

"Every corner of this stadium and every cheer from the fans have been with me throughout my journey. Here, I have experienced unforgettable moments, filled with joy, celebration, and challenges that we faced together. For me, this is much more than just football; it’s more than a club. Celta is my life, my home, and it embodies who I am. They say nothing lasts forever, but the love I hold for these colors will always reside in my heart," Aspas expressed.

Aspas has been an integral part of the club, having progressed through the youth system and made his mark in the first team. Despite his time at Liverpool and Sevilla, where he celebrated winning the Europa League in the 2014/15 season, Aspas has solidified his status as a club legend and the all-time leading scorer.

This season, the 37-year-old forward has netted six goals and provided three assists in La Liga. "It is a point of pride for the club and for Celta supporters to have one of the great symbols of Spanish football, a living legend of Celta, with us for another year," stated club President Marian Mourino.

Currently, Celta Vigo sits in 11th place in the La Liga standings, boasting eight wins, three draws, and six losses from their 18 matches played. As La Liga enters its annual winter break, the team is set to face Real Racing Club in the Round of 32 of the Copa Del Rey.
