Navi Mumbai, February 23 (NationPress) Yuzvendra Chahal, the 2024 T20 World Cup champion, showcased his talent in the 20th DY Patil T20 Cup, leading Income Tax to a convincing seven-wicket victory over Reliance on the tournament's opening day at DY Patil Stadium in Nerul, Navi Mumbai on Monday. Chahal's outstanding performance of 4 wickets for just 11 runs was instrumental in limiting Reliance to a mere 131 runs for 9 in their allotted 20 overs. The successful chase was bolstered by an unbeaten 31 runs from Venkatesh Iyer, who also contributed with the ball, taking one wicket.

In another morning match at the University Ground, Mumbai Customs triumphed over CGST by 35 runs.

During the afternoon session, Karsh Kothari (4-31) and Arjun Tendulkar (3-34) excelled with the ball for DY Patil Blue, restricting Nirlon to 154 runs. Despite a disappointing performance from the highly touted batting order, including Vaibhav Sooryavanshi (2) and Sarfaraz Khan (0), Yash Dhull's spectacular innings of 64 runs off just 32 balls (including 8 fours and 3 sixes) led DY Patil Blue to victory by four wickets.

In another afternoon match at the University Ground, CAG dominated Jain Irrigation, winning by 10 wickets. The openers, Viswaraj Singh Jadeja (91 not out off 53 balls) and Aman Mokate (91 not out off 44 balls), completely overwhelmed Jain Irrigation, successfully chasing down a target of 191 with ten wickets and four overs to spare.

Group A: Mumbai Customs 224-5 in 20 overs (Sachin Yadav 77, Aakash Parkar 43, Prateek Shukla 39 not out; Nadeem 2-30) defeated CGST 189 in 19.2 overs (Rohan Marva 51, Shubham K 50 not out; Abhinandan Singh 2-32, Daksh Kamra 2-28) - by 35 runs.
