The talented 23-year-old forward has signed an eight-year contract with the club, extending his commitment until 2033, and he will join the squad just in time for their FIFA Club World Cup quarter-final clash against Palmeiras.
According to a report by the BBC, Chelsea has secured the Brazilian's transfer for a fee of 60 million Pounds.
"Everyone knows this is a big club with a great history. They had brilliant players in the past and have brilliant players now. So I am excited to join and you know when you are a Chelsea player you must think one thing — win," stated Pedro.
A product of the esteemed Brazilian club Fluminense, Joao Pedro first showcased his skills as a teenager, quickly establishing himself as a forward with flair and an eye for goal. He scored 10 goals in 36 matches for Fluminense before making the transition to English football.
His career progressed at Watford, where he made a significant impact over four seasons, accumulating 109 appearances and scoring 24 goals, even taking on the captain's role during the 2022/23 season before turning 22.
In 2023, Joao Pedro joined Brighton, making an immediate impression by scoring on his debut. He concluded the season with an impressive tally of 19 goals across all competitions, finishing as the joint-top scorer for the Seagulls.
A versatile forward, Joao Pedro brings valuable top-flight experience and has also represented Brazil at the international level, earning three caps, including his most recent appearance in a 2–1 victory over Colombia.
During his first interview, the 23-year-old shared insights about his connection with Brazilian defender David Luiz, who has won the Premier League, FA Cup, Champions League, and Europa League during his two tenures at Stamford Bridge.
"I'm close a little bit to David Luiz. I spoke to him, not about Chelsea, but about my career and how I could develop better. He helped me," he added.
