Chennai, Jan 28 (NationPress) Chennaiyin FC have finalized the acquisition of Spanish midfielder Alberto Noguera, who hails from Madrid. The talented playmaker has signed a contract that extends until the end of the current season, marking him as the Marina Machans’ second fresh addition in preparation for the forthcoming campaign.

Having amassed nearly 400 appearances throughout his career, Noguera injects a wealth of experience and skill into Chennaiyin FC. His extensive career spans across Spain, England, Azerbaijan, and India, showcasing his versatile talent.

Upon his arrival at Chennaiyin FC, Noguera expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “I’m thrilled and eager as I anticipate the new season after everything that has transpired. I’ve previously collaborated with the head coach and am familiar with many players, instilling confidence as I embark on this new journey. I’m ready to embrace the challenge and optimistic for a successful season ahead. Throughout his career, he has proven to be a significant asset at the highest levels of Indian football, amassing major domestic accolades, including the Indian Super League, Indian Super League Cup, and the Durand Cup.

Noguera’s adaptability allows him to excel in both attacking and central midfield positions, enhancing creativity, composure, and control in the midfield area. Renowned for his vision, passing ability, and intelligence in possession, the Spaniard is anticipated to play a pivotal role in orchestrating play and managing the tempo of Chennaiyin’s midfield.

Born in Madrid, Noguera climbed through the youth ranks at Getafe and local club SS Reyes before earning a spot with the prestigious Atlético Madrid. After progressing through the reserves, he made his first-team debut in the 2010–11 season. His journey took him through stints in England and Azerbaijan before returning to Spain in 2014, where he played extensively in the second and third divisions.

He ventured into the Indian Super League in 2020, amassing over 90 appearances across five seasons for three different clubs, scoring 14 goals and providing 15 assists.

Head coach Clifford Miranda welcomed the club’s latest signing, stating, “With Noguera, we gain quality and consistency. His composure and control in midfield will provide stability for the team. He is experienced and very familiar with the ISL. His rapport with the players will be invaluable, encouraging and motivating them.”

Noguera's arrival follows the recent addition of Imran Khan, as Chennaiyin FC continues to bolster their squad in anticipation of the new season.
