Chennai, April 6 (NationPress) In their pursuit of a playoff position, Chennaiyin FC will look to secure a full three points when they face Inter Kashi, the newcomers to the Indian Super League, at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium this Tuesday. This marks the inaugural match between the two sides.

Inter Kashi earned their place in the ISL after clinching the I-League title last season. Chennaiyin enters this matchup following a hard-fought draw against the undefeated FC Goa, a game where they were in the lead until the closing moments. Head coach Clifford Miranda reflected on the team's recent performance, expressing cautious optimism.

“We showcased good ball control against Goa, creating several opportunities and executing well. It was unfortunate that we didn’t find the back of the net in the second half. Our pressing was effective,” he stated.

As they prepare for the challenge posed by Inter Kashi, Miranda acknowledged the fierce competition in the league and recognized the presence of a familiar figure on the opposing side, Antonio López Habas, with whom he has previously collaborated. Despite a rocky start for Inter this season, Miranda anticipates a challenging encounter.

“Every match is tough. The level of competition is extremely high, and games are often closely contested,” Miranda stressed. “With Antonio, we have a history from my time at ATK, where we worked together for several months. He has a strategic approach and prepares his teams to be both direct and aggressive. Given their current situation, I expect a strong response from him.”

Midfielder Maheson Singh joined Miranda at the press conference, expressing gratitude toward his senior teammates for their guidance and acknowledging his coach's faith in him since joining the club.

“I’m thankful to Coach Miranda for this opportunity. The support from players like Pritam Kotal and Alberto Noguera has been invaluable, both on and off the pitch. Regardless of my playing time, the team’s success is my priority,” he remarked.

Having featured in all five matches this season, Maheson received commendation from Miranda. “In my view, he is currently the best Indian number 10. His game intelligence, positional awareness, and defensive contributions are exceptional. There are areas for improvement, especially in his goal-scoring,” Miranda added.

Regarding team updates, Miranda confirmed that he expects the entire squad to be fit for the match, with the exception of Daniel Chima Chukwu, who is recovering from an injury sustained in the recent game against FC Goa.
